Early Life and Family:
Mayank Markande was born and brought up in Bathinda, Punjab. His father, Sanjiv Kumar, is a former athlete and now runs a sports academy in Bathinda. Markande started playing cricket at a young age and was encouraged by his father to pursue the sport. He completed his schooling from the DAV Public School in Bathinda.
Cricket Career:
Mayank Markande started his cricketing career as a fast bowler. However, he soon realized that his true passion was leg-spin and started to focus on his bowling skills. He played for Punjab in the 2018 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and was the leading wicket-taker for his team in the tournament.
In the IPL auction for the 2018 season Mayank Markande was picked up by Mumbai Indians for INR 20 lakhs.
In the 2019 IPL season, Markande was retained by Mumbai Indians.
In the 2020 IPL season, Markande was traded to Rajasthan Royals.
